2015 Toyota Highlander Captures Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award

Monday, December 1st, 2014

The 2015 Toyota Highlander was named the top Mid-Size SUV/Crossover in the first ever Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards. The awards recognize the top new vehicle choices available in the U.S. market.

In the words of KBB.com’s panel of experts, “In a segment filled with excellent alternatives, Toyota’s well-crafted, well-styled and well-sorted Highlander simply does the best job of seamlessly mixing and matching the things that count most into a single, extremely engaging package we deem the standard bearer for its class.”

The Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards are the culmination of a year-long regimen of expert vehicle evaluation and testing of nearly every new vehicle available in the U.S., along with analysis of a broad swath of vehicle-related data, including vehicle pricing/transaction prices, 5-Year Cost to Own data, consumer reviews and ratings, and vehicle sales/retail information.

Toyota Captures Seven ALG Residual Value Awards Including Top Mainstream Brand

Monday, December 1st, 2014

They say it’s lonely at the top. For Toyota, it’s never lonely when you are joined by a large group of family members. Toyota once again dominated the annual ALG Residual Value Awards with six models capturing the top spot in their respective segments and a seventh award going to Toyota as the top Mainstream Brand. The Residual Value Awards from ALG represent the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data.

“Toyota’s truck lineup has traditionally had incredible retention, especially with its competitive pricing,” said Larry Dominique, President of ALG. “This year is particularly strong for its car lineup, as well, with a fresh array of sedans led by the best-selling Camry.”

The annual ALG Residual Value Awards recognize automakers’ outstanding achievements for vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Awards are given in 24 vehicle categories and also for the two brands with the highest overall predicted residual values among all mainstream and all premium vehicles.

The six model-level awards were more than any other auto brand. Toyota models taking home awards included:

  • Prius v – Alternative Fuel Vehicle
  • Highlander – Midsize Utility Vehicle – 3-Row
  • 4Runner – Off Road Utility Vehicle
  • Tacoma – Midsize Pickup
  • Tundra – Fullsize Pickup
  • Land Cruiser – Premium Fullsize Utility Vehicle

Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies represent key factors that impact ALG’s residual value forecasts.

Nickelodeon and Toyota Partner to Create 2015 Toyota Sienna Inspired by the SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

Monday, December 1st, 2014

Nickelodeon and Toyota have partnered to transform everyone’s porous pal into a new 3-D concept car based on Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ upcoming film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. The SpongeBob Movie 2015 Toyota Sienna features a custom three-dimensional SpongeBob SquarePants exterior, complete with the character’s Superhero Incredibubble mask that blows real bubbles at the top of the car. The interior features seating inspired by each of SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom pals, along with a wood-grain dashboard, a custom Captain’s steering wheel, a blue-sky head liner and a sand-inspired floor. The one-of-a-kind vehicle will be unveiled on Nov. 18 at the LA Auto Show and will then roll out on a cross-country promotional tour leading up to The SpongeBob Movie’s Feb. 6, 2015 premiere.

“SpongeBob SquarePants continues to be at the center of pop culture, and through this promotion with our wonderful partners at Toyota, we have created his next iconic moment with a truly unique vehicle that captures all of the high-octane energy of Paramount’s highly anticipated feature film,” said Pam Kaufman, Chief Marketing Officer, Nickelodeon Group.

“Toyota is again teaming up with SpongeBob to help him and his friends go places in a custom ride inspired by their upcoming dry land adventures,” said Jack Hollis, vice president of marketing for Toyota. “The 2015 Sienna is a perfect choice for families and superheroes alike – offering seating for up to eight and a bubble blower attachment feature to boot.”

The SpongeBob Movie-themed 2015 Toyota Sienna will bring SpongeBob’s special brand of nautical nonsense to several family-friendly locations, including select Bass Pro Shops across the US, Nickelodeon Suites Resort, Orlando, Fla.; Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America, Minneapolis, Minn.; the Chicago Auto Show, Chicago, Ill.; and the New York Auto Show, New York, NY. These events will feature character meet-and-greets and photo opportunities, a SpongeBob-inspired crane game; giveaways and more.

Restyled 2015 Toyota Prius v Posts Big Numbers in Roominess and Fuel Economy

Monday, December 1st, 2014

  • 42-MPG Combined EPA Fuel Economy Rating Tops Set
  • More Cargo Space Than Most Small SUVs
  • New Front Styling and Taillights Sharpen the Distinctive Design
  • Upgraded Entune® Audio and Multimedia Offerings
  • Newly Available Power Driver’s Seat
  • Upgraded Advanced Technology Package Now Includes Automatic High Beams and Lane Departure Alert

The Toyota Prius v – the “big Prius” – gets a new look for 2015. But Toyota didn’t mess with the outstanding roominess in the largest model in the Prius Family, a car sized for families with a hefty 42 MPG EPA combined fuel economy rating.

Revised front and rear styling and striking new colors including Attitude Black Metallic, Absolutely Red and tasty Toasted Walnut Pearl give Prius v a sportier attitude. The new front bumper, grille, available integrated fog lights and available Toyota-first LED projector low- and high-beam headlights contribute to the roomy Prius v sporty makeover. Inside, new Entune® Audio systems bring new multimedia capabilities. The newly available 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support offers even more comfort to the already high-utility interior. Technology is updated with a 4.2-inch TFT screen that is standard on Prius v Three and higher and the available Advanced Technology Package has been upgraded for 2015 model year.

The “v” in the Prius v stands for versatility, by the way, which seems appropriate in a highly efficient vehicle that offers more cargo room than most small SUVs.

Using the same Hybrid Synergy Drive system as the standard Prius, the Prius v delivers EPA-estimated 44 MPG city / 40 MPG highway ratings, an exceptional level of efficiency for such a roomy and versatile vehicle. The Prius v rides on a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase and is 5.9 inches longer overall than the Prius liftback. Those modest differences in exterior dimensions yield nearly 60 percent more cargo space with 34.3 cu. ft. behind the rear seats vs. 21.6 cu. ft. for the Prius liftback.

With its 60/40 split folding rear seats folded down, the Prius v offers 67.3 cu. ft. of carrying space. In fact, the combination of a roomy cabin and cargo area earns the Prius v a “midsize station wagon” classification from the EPA. The low, wide-opening tailgate provides easy access, and the fold-flat front-passenger seat allows the vehicle to carry long items. And, the sliding second row seats let you adjust room for passengers or cargo.
